Choosing the right school for our children is a significant decision, one that goes beyond academics to include a nurturing, supportive environment. When we moved to Stoughton in 2016, we knew we wanted something special for our daughter, Stella. After years of homeschooling, we found that at St. Ann School. From the personal connection we felt during our tour to the warm, welcoming community, St. Ann has exceeded our expectations. In this post, we share our journey and how Stella’s experience at St. Ann has been nothing short of amazing.
Our Background and Move to Stoughton We originally hail from Eden, WI, and just outside of the Twin Cities. After living in McFarland for some time, we made the move to Stoughton in 2016. Since then, we’ve fallen in love with this wonderful community. When it came time to find the right educational setting for our children, we knew we wanted something special—and we found that at St. Ann School. Why We Chose St. Ann School Before joining St. Ann, we had been homeschooling our children for several years. However, with the arrival of a new baby, we realized our oldest, Stella, needed something more from her schooling experience. What ultimately made us decide on St. Ann was a combination of factors, but the most significant was the personal connection we felt when we toured the school with Mrs. Stano. Her genuine, nurturing relationship with both the students and staff made it clear that St. Ann was a place where Stella would not only learn but also feel supported and loved. We knew this would be the right environment to transition from homeschooling to a more structured setting. A Welcoming Experience for Stella The past six months have been nothing short of amazing for Stella. It truly feels as though she’s been a part of the St. Ann family forever. The 5th grade class, along with everyone else at the school, made her feel so welcome right from the start. In fact, she’s often eager for the weekend to end so she can return to school—something we never expected! It warms our hearts to see her so happy and excited about learning. Rich Educational Opportunities One of the most impressive aspects of our experience at St. Ann has been the rich educational opportunities. From thought-provoking field trips to all-school events, the school has offered Stella a depth of experience that complements and builds on what she learned during her homeschooling years. It’s been wonderful to see her engage in subjects more deeply and explore topics with a fresh perspective. Equally noteworthy is the emphasis on community. St. Ann goes above and beyond in fostering a sense of belonging, not just for students but for families as well. The Strong Sense of Community What stands out the most to me is the strong sense of community at St. Ann. Even though we were newcomers, Stella was welcomed with open arms, especially in those early weeks when adjusting to a new school can be challenging. I also want to acknowledge how supportive Mrs. Neumeyer has been—she has such a kind, encouraging presence, and it’s clear she always has the kids’ best interests at heart. Looking Forward to Stella’s Growth Looking ahead, I’m excited to see how Stella will continue to grow and thrive at this incredible school. We’re also looking forward to getting to know more families in the St. Ann community and building even deeper connections. We couldn’t be happier with our decision to choose St. Ann School. It’s truly a gem right here in Stoughton!
